Schreckhorn hut SAC

From the mountain station of the aerial cable car, experienced hikers can reach it in 4.5 hours. The SAC Schreckhornhütte is the starting point for demanding routes to the 4000-meter peaks Schreckhorn and Lauteraarhorn, as well as for a number of lower, equally rewarding summits. The hut is also popular as an intermediate stop on multi-day, combined hut tours – enough program for a varied stay in a high alpine environment. As a cosy SAC hut, the Schreckhornhütte offers 30 sleeping places and, of course, cosy hut evenings.

The hut is staffed from mid to late June until the end of September, depending on conditions.

The hut trail is a demanding blue-and-white marked alpine route. Guests with limited alpine experience are strongly advised to inform themselves in advance and allow sufficient time for the ascent. Chains and fixed ropes support the climb and descent; however, hiking this alpine route is undertaken at your own responsibility. Sturdy, waterproof mountain boots are required.

Information about the current trail conditions is available during the staffed period by phone at +41 (0) 33 855 10 25 or by email at info@schreckhornhuette.ch.
